MSTRBLSTR – El Jefe Ácido

SpotifyBandcampBeatportApple Music

Recorded in 1996, El Jefe Ácido was previously unreleased.

In El Jefe Ácido, a massive distorted TR-808-driven electro breakbeat and TB-303 acid bleeps punctuate intricate layers of analog textures.

Downtown Wasteland is an experimental electronic composition where swaggering filtered analog rhythms surf over evolving TB-303 basslines and dub effects.

Both songs were conceived, performed, mixed, and recorded live to DAT tape the same day in Phoenix, Arizona. They showcase MSTRBLSTR’s electro and acid roots and the unique minimalist but energetic style he developed during his live improvisational electronic music performances at raves throughout the 1990s.

Instruments used:
Roland TR-808, Roland TR-606, Roland TB-303, Boss PC-2 Percussion Synth, Realistic/Moog Rogue (filters)(, PAIA Spring Reverb, DOD R-880 Dual Delay, Boss DS-1 Distortion, DBX 128 Compressor, Studiomaster 2-bus mixer, SONY DAT recorder.
